In 2004, with the help of my good friend Anna, I began sharing my stories/anecdotes/rants/ramblings/random thoughts on Blogger. Twenty years of me me-ing at you. Twenty years of up and downs and sideways.
I’m going to confess – the old template bugged me from the jump. It was just meh, but a functional meh that got the job done. These days you see so much meh in so many brands – products that are aesthetically inoffensive – don’t stand out – don’t pop so they appeal to the broadest audience. The same beige over and over again. The only real difference found in the logo. Like if the sphere of influence for HOA’s extended beyond our homogenous little neighborhoods.
I wanted something new. Something not meh. The blog equivalent of a Shelby Mustang (a girl can dream) or at least a Gremlin.
So, earlier this month I decided I hated it enough to actually make a change. So, I enlisted professionals. What you’re seeing now is the debut/relaunch of The Big Blue Mess.
It’s not a Shelby, it’s more a Yugo, but hey it’s different than the generic sedan I’d kept taped together for years.
I’m using this post as a test to confirm a few things and hopefully when I click on “publish” things won’t blow up spectacularly. I’m ok if they do, because it’ll be it’s own fun story. Once I confirmed it’s working as expected, I’ll clean up all of the AI generated posts the developer created. I’m currently using them to troubleshoot, so please be patient.
Next on my blog to-do list: Updating the logo. Sadly, the original high res image was lost 15 years ago, so I’ve been limping along with the low res versions I have. This latest logo is AI generated. It’s fine, but again it’s not doing much for me. (Psst, If anyone knows a real graphic designer whose talented but works on the cheap, let me know.)
Anyway…
Enjoy some fresh paint on an old blog. And as always thank you for sticking around.
