The Second Page

So, I’m obviously stuck – uninspired – what have you and the journal is now hiding under a couple of books I got for Christmas. You know, the one I can’t write in because of my First Page anxiety?

Jay had this brainstorm, though. He said I could actually skip the first page and start on a different page. WHOA! You can just skip a page? Come back to it later? It’s like starting dinner with dessert.

Hrmm… maybe that will be the inspiration I need? Jot something on this second page and then see what happens? Surely, it can’t be that easy.

I always start with the second, sometimes the third page. That way, if what I write is that completely sucktacular, it’s not first seen when the book is open. And I could rip it out… and still have a pretty front page. Just write, dammit

Can I really write in pen? I mean… it’s so permanent.Ahn, I think I’ll go with your advice – the third page. It’s not as daunting as either the first or second. I mean, the third can’t be that bad, right?

Apparently, blank book syndrome is rampant. I gave a blank book to a friend years ago and she gave it right back: its blankness terrified her!
